The Gulick tape is designed to apply a constant tension to the tape when measurements are taken on the human body. Because flesh is compressible, variations in readings will occur unless the same tension is applied to the tape for all measurements.
General Body Measurement Instructions:
Pull enough of the tape out from the case to allow for the size of the body part being measured.
Place the tape around the body part, such as the upper arm.
Hold the end of the tape closest to the tape case with the fingers of one hand.
Hold the end of the round cylinder at the end of the tape with the fingers of the other hand.
With the tape wrapped around the limb, pull on the end of the cylinder until the notch on the small wire rod is just visible as it comes out of the cylinder. This applies the correct tension to the tape.
Read the tape as you would an ordinary tape directly opposite the “0” mark near the end of the tape. There is a small amount of tape beyond the “0” mark where the Gulick cylinder attaches. Do not read from the end. Where the “0” mark lines up with the numbers on the tape is the reading to take.
There is no calibration of this device necessary. The correct tension is applied when the red marked notch on the rod just appears out of the cylinder and is flush with its end.

FEDEX or the United States Postal Service (USPS) are the preferred carriers for domestic shipments. The following shipping options are available: Ground, 3 Day, 2 Day, and Next Day. Orders are typically delivered within 5 business days. Special order, non-stock, or drop ship items may take up to 3 weeks or longer to arrive. Most carriers do not deliver on weekends and major holidays.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico
USPS is used for shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
APO/FPO
USPS is used for APO/FPO shipments.
International
Workoutz.com ships worldwide. FEDEX International Economy or USPS are used for most international shipments, depending on the weight and size of the item. Please allow at least 2 business days to process international shipments. Orders can be delivered to most countries within 6 to 10 business days. Delivery times may take longer than expected if the package is inspected by customs. Buyer is responsible for all duties, taxes, and brokerage fees.
Return Policy
NOTICE: Our return address is different than our operations address. Buyer is responsible for all return shipping costs. Shipping charges are not refundable. Please contact us to initiate a return and obtain an RA number.
Workoutz.com has a 60-day return policy on most items. Once a return authorization number is issued, please return your package within 14 days. If applicable, a refund or store credit will be issued less shipping charges. Returned orders may be subject to a 15% restocking fee (unclaimed packages, undeliverable addresses, etc). Some unopened items are eligible for a full refund, less shipping charges. Orders with free shipping are subject to a 15% restocking fee upon return. No refund/return is possible after 60 days from the date of purchase. Orders returned due to failure to retrieve a package or because of an invalid address will be refunded less shipping and handling.
Exchanges
Exchanges can be tricky. Logistically, it is easier for us to issue a refund. Once we receive your return, we will issue a refund. Buyer is responsible for any shipping fees resulting from exchanged or returned items.
Cancellations
Most orders can be canceled within 1 hour from the time the order was placed.
